Some of Our Fur Friends who Found Forever Homes
The Puppies!!! - 8 German Shepherd Mix puppies find new homes
A mother German Shepherd and her 8 puppies (Alec, McKenna, Rowan, Ian, Finley, Mina, Logan, and Collin) were discovered abandoned in Texas and rescued by some local Texan heroes. The entire family was transported to our capital district area. We are pleased to say that all of the puppies have found terrific homes and ready to start their new lives - playing in grassy fenced in yards, some with furfriends and all with families who love them. Rescue is only possible through the help of many organizations and people who volunteer their time, money, and talents. Mom is getting much needed rest and will be soon available for adoption herself (if her current foster mom can stop cuddling her long enough). Wishing you all the best to our new Good Shepherd Rescue Families!!!
Babe
Dixie Doodle
Babe was a nervous, scared little girl. We had almost lost hope of finding her a home. One of our previous adopters with hearts full of love and patience, brought her into their home to be a little sister to Trooper. We could not have asked for a better placement - she has a pack to follow and a chance to gain confidence and a knowledge that she is wanted ... she is loved. Congratulations, Babe!
Congratulations Dixie Doodle. Enjoy your new home with Tom and furfriend, Geaoffy. We know you are going to have so much fun with tunnels, weave poles, and jumps. May your playful young heart find happiness in your new home.
Eli
Congratulations , Carol, Dave and fur friend Sammie on adding this playful member to your family. Thank you for being such supporters of Good Shepherd and for being big advocates for rescues. It is couples like you that make our mission possible.
Rocketman
This special pup had agility star written all over him. Fast as the wind and intelligent to boot. Rocketman drives his mom crazy at time with his playful personality, but she really would not want him any other way. From being alone to being an essential member of his pack, Rocketman has catapulted his way into his mom's heart .... we want a video of his first trial win!
Archie
The moment we saw Archie with his new fur buddies and being embraced by three generations of family in his new home - we knew that we had found the perfect home. He just fit. You know, just fit. Kelly sent us pictures of Archie sleeping next to her husband, bonding with her dad and a video of him snuggling with her gram. Archie was days from being euthenized in his southern kill shelter - now he is beloved. On those days where we wonder if we ever made a difference ... we just look back at this page and see the lives we have connected and changed.

Becky & Cooper
Definitely love at first site for both Becky and her new puppy, Cooper. We knew this was a match when the inexperienced puppy frightened upon seeing a chicken for the first time raced into his new mom's arm for protection. May you continue to wiggle your way into your new family's heart, Cooper.
Daisy & Dexter
Double the fun and mischief. Daisy and Dexter won the lottery when they got to be adopted together. These two siblings are such a bundle of puppy joy. We know they will bring their new family kisses and cuddles for years to come.
Chuck!!!!
Congratulations, Chuck on your new home , complete with a fur friend to play with. You were with us for a long time because we wanted you to find that home where you can be spoiled and loved the way you truly deserved. Enjoy living the life you were dreaming of so long. You will be missed, but with a happy heart knowing you are blessed in your new family.
Rocky
Home for the Holidays! Congratulations to Rocky on his new home. His life is going to be full of camping trips and running through his doggie door flap. Enjoy your adventures little pup.
Comet
Congratulations to Comet who found his new forever home after a year long search. He now has a loving home with his new dad, Eamon, and a brother Memphis. Sometimes it takes a little while to match the perfect dog with the perfect home. We are so happy that Comet has a home to call his own - although we will secretly miss his spunky , joyous personality.
Peaches
Peaches found her new home in 2020. This little girl found her princess life in a new condo - proving that even tiny can live large.
Who Me?
8 week old bundle of pup and his 6 siblings/friends were an unexpected but happy discovery when we rescued a pregnant mom from Texas. We are sure this little southern gentleman will charm all the hearts of his new family.
Lucky
Rescued from a high kill shelter in central Texas, Lucky is aptly named for many reasons. This sweetheart of a dog had the temperament and intellegence to be trained as a service companion animal. He has truly found a home where he can romp with other fur friends and has a home with a mom who will always cherish him.
Biscuit
Don't let Biscuit's sweet posing fool you. This pup was made for spunky fun! We are so happy he found his forever home in 2020 with a fur friend to play with and loving parents who will spoil him the way he deserves.
Hopper
Large dogs are sometimes hard to place, but this gentle giant was a loveable goof who was just looking to find his pack leader. Thank you for opening your home in 2020 to one of the happiest dogs on the block.
Romi
Romi never really understood his size. He was always a hugger! His new mom in 2020 though does not seem upset with that social lapse. Smart and clever - this pup is destined to be an obedience champ.
Gage
Gage was adopted in 2016 to the Johnsons. He has become a fun addition to their family - enjoying hikes, terrorizing the neighborhood squirrels, and playing endless games of tug. "Gage has been such a wonderful addition to our family. He is so happy and his joy makes us smile!" - Dan Johnson
Jasper
Jasper was adopted in 2017 to the Lyons family. Jasper has totally made himself at home chasing his brother across the backyard. His favorite hobby is snuggling up to his family ... and eating. "Jasper is always by my side - especially when I am baking his favorite treats. Thank you Good Shepherd for connecting me to a best friend." - Anne Lyons
Frannie
Frannie was adopted in 2018. She went to a military family whose dedication to providing a loving and safe home to this shy pup was tremendous. Installing a fence in the middle of winter was no mean feat, but it provided her and her older fur sister a wonderful place to romp with the kids.
Thunder
Thunder was adopted in 2019. His new mom could not be more happy for this fun and energic little guy.
Jett
Jett, a black lab cuddle bug, won the jackpot in 2019 when he found his forever home with Christine, Tony, Luke and a new fur brother, Charlie!
Neenah
It was so hard to say goodbye to Neenah in 2019 - what a happy spirit, but knowing that she is giving such joy to her new mom and dad makes it all worth while.
Across the Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge Poem (author unknown)
“Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….”
